Walking in the wood’s morning stillness,
.
on late autumn fallen leaves
that recent rain left damp with saturated color,
.
as kinglets with their quiet sounds
teased
flitting from branch to branch
never pausing quite long enough,
I found myself with no expectations
content to listen to the voice of the day.

Thanks for stopping by.
There is an old saying that says if you go into the woods expecting to see a specific thing that’s all you’ll see. It’s true, so I always go with no expectations.
Beautiful photos truly representing the season of autumn.
Thanks for sharing your site with me! I love the pictures of the leaves in water and ice and of the fungi! What a wonderful practice, to go on walks, take pictures, and write poetry!
Amanda, we are glad you enjoyed the blog. It’s been a wonderful way for us to value each day.
A large part of my spiritual practice, walking, listening, looking and taking it in. Hearing or seeing a bird always makes it better for me, but is not necessary. Thank you for these frequent connections to the beauty near us.
Thanks Joan, it’s always nice to know we share this journey with kindred spirits
